However, some people have described experiencing buzzing, roaring, whooshing or other noises instead.<\/p>\n<p>The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)\u00a0 states that about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nceh\/hearing_loss\/public_health_scientific_info.html\">10% of the U.S. adult population has experienced tinnitus<\/a> lasting at least five minutes within the past year. In addition to people with the conditions listed above, there are several risk factors that make tinnitus more likely. They include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Exposure to loud noise<\/li>\n<li>Older age<\/li>\n<li>Using tobacco and alcohol<\/li>\n<li>Having conditions that affect your vascular system, such as high blood pressure or diabetes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Complications From Tinnitus<\/h2>\n<p>Some people who have tinnitus experience symptoms only briefly and are not terribly affected. However, for others with persistent or severe symptoms, tinnitus can significantly impact their quality of life. Tinnitus may cause:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An increase in anxiety and depression<\/li>\n<li>Trouble sleeping<\/li>\n<li>Headaches<\/li>\n<li>Trouble concentrating<\/li>\n<li>Problems at work or school<\/li>\n<li>Difficulty engaging in social activities like meeting friends at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bigcityboise.com\/\">Big City Coffee &amp; Caf\u00e9<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Treatment and Management Options<\/h2>\n<p>If tinnitus is interfering with your wellbeing, it\u2019s important to make an appointment with a medical professional. However, in cases where a cause cannot be found or your tinnitus is not affected by treating the cause, other management options exist to reduce your symptoms.
